What are the symptoms of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)?

The symptoms of an STD depend on the STD. The history of the symptom (or symptoms) is important to the diagnosis of an STD. For example, the sores or lesions of a particular STD may change over time. Therefore, a history of the initial appearance of the sore may be helpful in making the diagnosis. Thus, a patient with genital ulcerations who can state with certainty that the sore began as vesicles can help confirm a diagnosis of genital herpes and help to rule out other STDs. Several sexually transmitted diseases are associated with vulvar or penile lesions. Condylomas (genital warts) are visible on the surface of the penis and in and around the vagina.
